Recent economic and political changes in the Russian Federation have brought about a growing demand for environmental information to serve local, regional and national decision-making needs. In response to these needs two seminars were organized by the OECD's Centre for Co-operation with the Economies in Transition (CCET) and the UNEP to provide assistance to decision makers and experts in the Russian Federation who are responsible for designing of implementing integrated environmental information systems, and to share experience from OECD Member countries in establishing and operating such information systems.
