Plants, People and Nature grew out of a workshop on benefit sharing held in Cape Town during the 4th World Congress of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (WOCMAP) in November 2009. This easy to read publication includes twenty two case studies of benefit sharing in practice. The book is designed to help private and public sector organisations better understand the challenges and opportunities of working with bio-resources, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America. With a series of special information boxes the book aims to give the reader concise and easy-to-read explanations of the role and importance of the major organisations, initiatives and international conventions that help determine how our biodiversity is to be developed, nourished and sustained. |
