CIFOR has a mission to contribute to the sustained well-being of people in developing countries, through collaborative strategic and applied research. CIFOR's research on 'Rehabilitation of Degraded Tropical Forest Ecosystem's projects started in 1996.
The research is undertaken by seven institutions who are collaborating on; the evaluation of forest harvesting impacts on the forest ecosystems; development of methods to rehabilitate logged-over forests and degraded forest lands, and development of silvicultural techniques on degraded forest lands.
