This report assesses all available information on the science of climate change, in particular that arising from human activities. In performing its assessments the WGIII is concerned with the scientific, technical, environmental, and economic and social aspects of mitigation of climate change.

Following the example set by the other signatory developing countries, with effect from March 1 997 Morocco is obliged to provide, in accordance with Article 12, "national inventories of anthropogenic emissions from sources and absorption by sinks of all greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol, using comparable methods which will be approved by the Conference of the Parties (COP) ".

This report is the national inventory of Tanzania, and presents the findings of the study team. A base line inventory of sources and sinks of greenhouse gases for Tanzania is being presented. While a lot of gaps do exist in the data available and that which is required for a detailed inventory, the work highlights areas where further research is needed for such an undertaking, including that of establishing country specific emission factors.
