The UNEP Year Book 2010 is the seventh report on our changing environment produced by the United Nations Environmental Programme. The Year Book identifies, selects and analyses new scientific findings of 2009 that are likely to shape important environmental issues and trends in the coming year. It focuses on important scientific questions and developments in UNEP's six thematic priority areas.

Over the past 12 years, within the GEO framework, UNEP has produced a series of global integrated environmental assessment reports aimed at providing comprehensive, scientifically credible, and policy-relevant assessments on the interaction between environment and society.

Gorillas, the largest of the great apes, are under renewed threat across the Congo Basin from Nigeria to the Albertine Rift: poaching for bushmeat, loss of habitat due to agricultural expansion, degradation of habitat from logging, mining and charcoal production are amongst these threats, in addition to natural epidemics such as ebola and the new risk of diseases passed from humans to gorillas.

The GEO Haiti 2010 Report assesses the state of the country’s natural resources and the problems encountered in trying to preserve them from the uncontrolled urban development of the main towns and an excessive use of resources without the necessary protection and security

The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) is an international initiative carried out to assess the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and to establish the scientific basis for actions to enhance the conservation and sustainable use of ecosystems and their contributions to human well-being.
