| International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development |
| The primary objectives of the Centre shall be to help promote the development of an economically and environmentally sound mountain ecosystem and to improve the living standards of mountain populations, especially in the HKH Region. In pursuing its mandate, ICIMOD works mainly at the interface between research and development and acts as a facilitator for generating new mountain-specific knowledge of relevance to mountain development. At the same time, ICIMOD attempts to ensure that new knowledge is shared among all relevant institutions, organisations, and individuals in the region. |

Nepal comprises of only 0.1% of land area on a global scale, but it possesses a disproportionately rich diversity of flora and fauna at genetic, species and ecosystem levels. However, a system needed to be established to update and verify all these information on a regular basis. Nepal Biodiversity resource Book (NBRB) was thus established to carry out those needs and give continuity to this initiative. |
